I have a question. My mortgage is NOT on my credit report for some reason. Should I write a letter or call to have it added? Will I simply need the name, address and account number to have it put on my report? If so, do you have the addresses for the three bureaus?
My next question is: Although I have never had a late payment on my mortgage, it will make my income to debt ratio change considerably. At this time it is good but I don’t know if this will hurt or help my credit score to have it added on. We have been in our current home for about 6 years.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Annette – If your mortgage is not getting reported, I would recommend calling your mortgage company. It’s their responsibility to report to the agencies. Regarding your next question — it’s generally good to have a mortgage on your credit report. Your credit to debt ratio is generally only important as it applies to revolving credit like credit cards, so I wouldn’t worry about that. Hope this helps.
